Nashville Fashion Week

In March 29-April 2, 2011 Nashville we be overtaken by "Nashville Fashion Week." I know many of you have voiced your concerns about the different "Fashion Weeks" that will be taking place come 2011 in Tennessee. All I can express here at Fab Life is that all the opportunities regardless are amazing. It's showing that Nashville, Tennessee is on the rise of growth in the fashion industry so, with that being said..I'm very happy to announce

NASHVILLE FASHION WEEK
Nashville Fashion Week kicks off March 29th and will go on through April 2nd.

"The event will celebrate Nashville's thriving fashion and retail community and its array of creative talent. Proceeds from the event will benefit the newly established Nashville Fashion Forward Fund, to be administered by The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee and awarded annually to advance the career of select local talent with demonstrated experience in a fashion-related field."

Nashville Fashion Week will be a big success. It's planned and directed by Creative Co-op Nashville LLC, a volunteer collaboration of fashion, retail and media professionals. From the things I've already seen and heard from Creative Co-op the event will bring out the best in fashion and media for the Nashville Community.

I hope that everyone interested will get involved in some way.

Psalm 134: 14 – “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”

The sentence from the Bible is also a sentence that represents a company that is guided by the grace of God. “God’s Princess” is a clothing line that is based upon Psalm 134:14.

The clothing line was started by designer, stylist, and consultant Cameo Bobo and is representing women and the way God had created them in his eyes. The clothing line consists of t-shirts, leg warmers, faux fur items such as leg warmers, vests, and skirts.

The designer and founder Cameo Bobo is an amazing young woman from Jackson, Tennessee. Check out her video to learn more about her story.

EDCT: Annual Fashion for Everybody

FAB LIFE didn’t get to be in attendance for Fashion for EveryBODY put on by the Eating Disorders Coalition of Tennessee, but we have heard some wonderful responses about this years show. The fashion event took place on November 4th, in Nashville and was made complete by some of Nashville’s top role models in the community.

The event took place during Nashville’s first ever Fashion Week and Fashion for EveryBODY featured role models of all shapes and sizes. The event also included a silent auction and arriving guest got a chance to get their pictures taken by photographers and media outlets.

All proceeds benefited Eating Disorders Coalition of Tennessee, the Southeast's only statewide nonprofit which targets eating disorder awareness, education, and prevention. Founded in 2002, EDCT promotes a robust offering of programs and services, including eating disorders prevention in youth, specialized training for medical professionals, support groups for families, community nutrition and wellness presentations, and a variety of awareness events.

Fashion Week Nashville: Designer Profiles

Who: Shawn-Michelle Le Fleur
What: Thought’s on Fashion Week Nashville, what can guest expect from the collection being presented on Saturday, and also what are you looking forward to the most this week?

I am very excited to be a part of Nashville's very first Fashion Week. Nashville is a very special, artistic community so I am more than thrilled to see my new hometown spreading its wings into another creative area! I am excited to present my beautiful hair and accessory fancies to Nashville. These are so much fun. They range from casual day time looks to showstoppers for a night on the town. You can clip them in your hair or be creative and clip them to a blazer, belt, scarf, blouse- just about anywhere! People love them because they go with anything and are so versatile in how you can wear them. :)

'Shawn-Michelle Le Fleur designs are hair fancies and accessories for all occasions. People love to clip them in their hair and also to a blazer, belt, scarf, blouse, etc. Her designs dress everyone up from locals and celebs in her hometown of Malibu, Ca. to her now second home in Nashville, TN.
She says she absolutely loves getting to be a flower child since her parents are artist/musicians and she was raised by them to flourish in her creativity. These beautiful creations add sparkle and joy to any outfit, for any occasion and are loved by everyone at every age. The artist also does 'specialty occasion' designs for brides and events upon private consultation. Also, she is the author and illustrator of the all ages children's book about a flower who's namesake is the title- title is 'HOPE'.
"Creativity is a constant flow in my life," says Shawn-Michelle, "I'm so lucky. And somehow it always comes back to nature and flowers for me, as is reflected in most all of my life's work." She always signs everything with her signature name and drawn flower and ends all correspondences with an appropriate 'Flower Power' in lieu of a 'Sincerely' or 'Thanks'.
Look for nothing but amazing things to come from this multi-talented, Renaissance lady.

Shawn-Michelle Le Fleur runway show will take place at 3pm.

FWN Designer Profiles: Jacquelyn Brooks

Who: Jacquelyn Brooks
What: Thought’s on Fashion Week Nashville, what can guest expect from the collection being presented on Saturday, and also what are you looking forward to the most this week?

I'm very excited about my Nashville fashion debut! The lines I will be presenting are Resort 2010/2011 and Spring 2011. Resort is a woman's upscale casual wear line (think yacht wear), featuring luxury knits and woven prints in ivory and black colors with gold highlights. My inspiration for the resort line was the regal beauty of Michelle Pfeiffer's character in Scarface. My Spring 2011 line is more formal, including semi-formal dresses to formal wedding gowns. My fabric theme includes solid and floral prints in shades of coral/pink, mint greens, and ivory. My inspiration for the spring line was the innocent beauty of the late 1950's and early 1960's. I will be showing 20-25 pieces.

Jacquelyn Brooks runway show will take place at 10am. Jacquelyn is from Gainesville, FL and her designs include bridal, formal, semi- formal gowns and resort wear.

Go to Couturefashionmag.com to purchase tickets to Jacquelyn Brooks show and to learn more about the designer.

DAY 3: FASHION WEEK NASHVILLE: FASHION AND ART

Tonight I spent an amazing evening discussing Fashion Week Nashville, fashion blogging, careers, outlooks, and more variety of things that any fashionista would dream of discussing.

The Fashion and Art event was another event by Fashion Week Nashville and guest joined together at the local Belmont community coffee shop, FIDO in the Village to discuss photography and fashion over a cup of coffee.

There were some great topics discussed at the event including what the guest thought about Nashville Fashion Week and the guests were really excited to be apart of such a wonderful event. We discussed blogging, the ups and downs of being a blogger. We also learned about Belmont University student ran Clothing store (AMAZING). Everyone was able to ask questions including questions to Polly, Couture Fashion Magazine's Editor-in-Chief. Polly gave insight on the most difficult part of running a fashion magazine, where she expressed the advertisements being the most difficult. She also told the group about how excited and blessed she was for Fashion Week Nashville.

Fashion and Art was a great way to network and meet other members of the fashion community here in Nashville. If you didn't have a chance to come by tonight it's ok Fashion Week Nashville have more coming up.

I do apologize for the lack of pictures I got so caught up in all the wonderful discussions with everyone!
