Who is Young, Fly, Richy?

Young Fly Richy is everything that you are not, my name stands alone, its a loner.Young Fly Richy is everything that you don't like about yourself, and everything  you love about someone else. sometimes I even wonder who is Young Fly Richy. Young Fly Richy is bigger then Young Fly Richy.

How did you get into doing photography?

My dad bought me a camera for Christmas and pretty much I started taking photos left and right. I wasn't liking what I was seeing how most chicks were viewed in Memphis on the model scene so I decided to give it a try and give it an urban twist.

As an artist (photographer) what inspires you?

Memphis inspires me mostly, just because it's the most random city ever. You never know the mood of the city or the people. It constantly changes like the weather and music by Kanye West always gives me new inspiration to shoot because with his songs they are so visual and they get me real hype.

Being that you are located in Memphis. How has your location played a part in your success

My location played a part of me being my own person and not looking for help. For the most part people will acknowledge but as far as connecting with you they wont. Plus im very young, so the gap with older photographers can sometimes be wack cause we can't see eye to eye. Shout out to Pat C, Akeara, Ziggy, Marc, Demetrius, Conyers, Arick, Tarrice, Darius Williams, and Regis Lawson for some people who have showed love tho.

Tell me about your Journey from when you first started till now?

My journey has been dope. I've been through some shit with photography but I manage to get out of it. I'm in a state right now where with my career is really jumping that I'm getting notice by magazines of major levels. In 6 short months God has really blessed my career from working with artists such as Drumma boy, actually will get to work with Melanie Fiona this week, just it's crazy ..cause to me I suck, but people think my work is great..I just thank God though seriously without him I am nothing.

If anyone was to ask you to describe your style of photography in one word what would it be?

Dope....nuff said

If you could capture any moment from the past what would it be?

My parents wedding! There wedding cost 25 bucks and they will be together this upcoming May for 25 years..i would just love to capture the essence of true love..

Any historic locations in Memphis that would be a dream to shoot at?

Graceland! Im trying to go ham in that place. I never been on the tour but I bet his house is real dope. It would definitely go with my eccentric style of shooting.

Hannibal

Any future projects you are excited about?

A few of those hip hop magazines everybody read, just pay close attention in the next few months. I'm shooting hella clothing lines. Working with this new dope magazine American Dreaming will be everywhere pretty soon. Plenty of models, plenty of boutiques, I'm all over..so I'm going to continue to keep doing what I'm doing..

Trends Spotted in Your Local Forever 21

FOREVER 21 ALWAYS IN WITH THE TRENDS

As I dealt with a packed weekend of non-stop fun I did have time to stop in to check out Forever 21 in Murfreesboro. No matter if you are making good money or still getting things together from the economic meltdown a store like Forever 21 is always a great place to shop. Always up on your latest trends and cutest styles it wasn't hard to believe that Forever 21 has the leopard buzzing throughout the store, stylish denim placed in all the right spots next to some of the hottest sequin tops. I checked online to see if some of my favorite pieces were even included on the website and I was excited to find that they were like the Faux Leopard Fur Jacket and the Fedora hats.

I was most impressed with all the SEQUIN in Forever 21. If I could buy the whole store I would. This store was every fashionista dream to wake up and have access to every sequin item she wanted from accessories to clothing. I also adore the accessories that Forever 21 carry. The one at Stone River mall in Murfreesboro was fully stocked with the latest in clutches, the cutest little sunglasses earrings, and undies.

I suggest if you are in Murfreesboro check out your local Forever 21. Don't be afraid to play dress up and mix and match your items. Check out my favorite pieces that were found at The Avenue.

Designer: Allie Marque

The designer of the “LA GIRL” tee Allie Marque tells Suave the tee represents “The young woman who works hard, and goes hard, day and night, to make her dreams reality.” The “LA GIRL” tee embodies more than just your regular born and raised California girl but the mindset of a strong young woman. “LA is driven by an urge to be successful,” says Allie, “I see lots of young ladies who are strong minded and able to hold their own, and I wanted to represent them. The front says “LA Face” and the back says “Hollywood CAKE” {Cake meaning CASH} cause they are always on the grind. The LA girl can live anywhere though, it’s not where she lives it’s her state of mind.
To many young girls around the globe LA represents a city of dreams. The place to spread your wings and reach the goals that you thought were impossible, but impossible is not a word for Allie Marque.

Who is Allie Marque?
Allie Marque is a fun loving, quirky girl from a tiny little town who just happened to have a GIGANTIC dream and the will to make it happen.
Tell us a little more about Allie the designer! What inspires you as a designer?
As a designer I would say that my style is a little edgy, its urban, high fashion for the ladies who dare to step outside of the box. I gain a lot of inspiration from my surroundings, living in the LA area you are exposed to many different styles, lot’s of ladies have kick ass wardrobes, but I grab from each {indie, hipster, high fashion} and create something, a little to the left. Also, from watching runway shows, looking in magazines and studying fashion blogs and trend reports, to keep up with the flow of things, then I take what I like and twist it around into the Allie Marque look. My Fashion icon is Patricia Field, her way of styling is so unique, its bubbly, edgy and classic all at once, she pretty much embodies what I hope to accomplish in my career as a designer.
How did you come up with the concept of the “LA GIRL” tee?
A couple of friends of mine used to be in a group called “GODAV” in one of their songs “90210” there’s a line from Young Bob that says “She got that LA Face with that Oakland Cake” I took that and ran with it.

What makes Becky the Great ahead of the game in Custom Designing is her impressive ability to separate each customer individually and give them a piece of art that represents them in the most personal way possible. Over the years Becky has not only used her talent to land some of the industry's hottest performers and athletes but Becky humbleness has helped her continue on with great success in custom designing. I was able to catch up with Becky and get the low-down on her career, her accomplishments, and what it means to her to be GREAT!
How did you get started doing custom Design?
I was working for a middle school in 03 and I put on a play with my 14 aftercare kids. A dance part in the play demanded 12 shirts and hats. I called the local airbrush shop and the prices were unbelievable, so I bought what I needed and taught myself. Then a friend asked me to do some stuff for him and it blew up from there.
You are known for working with most of Nashville’s biggest rap artist and other celebrities and athletes can you tell us a few?
Yes, I have done many things for Anthony Hamilton, Nappy Roots, and DJ Jelly (ATL). I have also designed exclusively for 50 Cent, Eminem, Rick Ross, Katt Williams Trina, David Banner, and NFL players like Dante Culpepper, Clint Hart, Roman Oben (Chargers) and Jacob Ford (Titans).
You call yourself Becky the Great, what is the meaning behind the Great?
Well, I didn’t give myself that name, but because I was good at a wide range of things, someone just gave me the name. But NOW, it has a greater meaning to me. Everyday, I live like it’s my last. When I’m gone, I want people to remember me for the life I’ve lived, and how I’ve helped people. It’s fine to be GREAT at doing shirts, but its FAR better to be GREAT for being a humanitarian and a ROLE MODEL. I truly believe being popular is fine, but it’s what you do with your popularity to help others that matter the most. To be GREAT means to be LARGER than usual, I don’t want to be the average. I want to be GREATER.
Being in Tennessee and doing fashion it’s hard! How do you stay focused and driven in such a slow area but keeping up an ever so changing industry?
Being that I am a CUSTOM designer, I don’t have a LINE. I can change along with the industry. I pay close attention to current trends along with popular trends from the past. I try to implement CURRENT trends in my designs. Nothing worse than OUTDATED custom clothing~ lol
Are there any stores in the Tennessee area you would love to see your work displayed?
PHATKAPS!!! If I seen my clothing sold there- I think I'll feel like I MADE IT!
Custom Design is a very interesting field that I love seeing the different artist and their different styles so what makes Becky the Great different from the other custom designers?
I think what makes me different from other designer's is, I don’t just make shirts and try to get a celeb to take a picture in it for the sake of exposure to my line. I design according to the individual’s personality. I put thought in every piece. Like, Anthony Hamilton’s style isn’t like Young Bucks style, so why would I make them the exact same styled shirt? That doesn’t make sense to me. I like to get a feel of someone’s style before I design for them.
You won the 2008 SEA Award for Best Clothing Line and you were nominated for the 2009 SEA Award for Best Clothing Line. How does it feel to be recognized for all your hard work?
It feels GREAT! I’m also nominated again for the 2010 awards. It lets me know that people respect what I do. I don’t really campaign to get votes. I like to get them the right way. I want people to vote for me because they like my work and feel like I deserve the award. Not because they like me as a person.

I’ve seen some of your work, but what all do you design can you give me a run-down?
I mainly design t shirts, shoes, jackets, jeans and some hats. But I’m more known for my T-shirts.
What has been your favorite project to work on so far?
That’s a good question, I did some work for an artist name RIP CASHVILLES ACE, he wasn’t tight on his budget and it allowed me to be as creative as possible. He ordered at SWAROVSKI stoned hoodie that had over 2000 stones in it. A Lot of times I limited in my creativity because a lot of people can’t afford more than the average lettering.
Are you working for a company or do you work solo?
SOLO! I started working with a friend named Grass from Futurekicks.com when I first started but since 04, I’ve been doing it alone. No Street team, nothing. Well, my daughter helps me occasionally, but that’s about it.
When you look back from when you first started till now, what would you say your biggest accomplishment is?
My GREATEST accomplishment was the day I met a legend from the ROCK STEADY crew (NY) name Crazy Legs. I designed a shirt for him and met with him and LOVED IT and I'll never forget that day!!
So tell me what do you think the future holds for you and your fashion career?
I’m working towards remaining CUSTOM and open up my own store in Atlanta. I plan on bringing other designers in with me, and have an entire DESIGN staff for any design needs. A one stop shop!! I also want to hold classes for at risk teens teaching them how to become an entrepreneur in the fashion industry!
