Nikera Clothing Branding Fashion + Music
Over the years Fashion and Music has continued to collide and we haveseen many ways that the two can form a powerful brand. Nikera Clothing
is no step shorter than being apart of this marvelous industry of
combining Fashion + Music. Originally designing women’s custom dresses
for her clothing company Nicholette Moore, a formal model, stylist, and U.S
Navy Veteran and her team set out to take spring 2010 by storm and
reintroduced the company. Focusing on branding the clothing with new
up & coming artist Nicholette has set out to release custom made
graphic t-shirts for men and brightly colored signature skirts for
women this spring. With their love for all things fashion and music
Nicholette spoke with Fab Life founder Lakeithea about the future of
her company Nikera Clothing, the artist representing the brand, and gave insight
to what Nikera Clothing has to offer this Spring for fashion + Music.
(LAKEITHEA) How did you come up with the concept of Nikera clothing line?
(NICHOLETTE) NIKERA stands for "Nikki's Era" My childhood nickname
is Nikki. I wanted to create my own era of fashionable garments packed
with tons of color and creativity.
(LAKEITHEA) What has been the inspiration behind your collections so far?
(NICOLETTE) COLOR COLOR COLOR!! I love to mix and match and create
non-traditional color patterns.
(LAKEITHEA) Nikera Clothing combines Music + Fashion, how did that come about?
(NICOLETTE) When I released my first collection in 2009, it was
mostly designed around city socialites and women attending special
events. The design team decided to create a line of tees for the
casual fashion crews. As you know there are tons of tee shirt
collections out there now with the same marketing strategies. We had
to come up with something that would set Nikera Clothing apart from
the rest. So we decided to incorporate MUSIC into the label. Giving
young fashionable musicians a chance to be the face of the collections
and also featuring them on our company blog and website! It's becoming
a huge trend right now, and I am blessed to be the creator of that
trend. Tons of Artists contact us weekly requesting a review online. I
am happy we are giving these young kids a voice within the fashion
realm.
(LAKEITHEA) What artist/s are you working with now? And what has been your
biggest task so far?
(NICOLETTE) Right now, Netta Brielle is the face of the current
collection we are currently
working with record labels from the UK and other countries worldwide.
The goal is to expose ALL Artists from all genres.
(LAKEITHEA) How do you go about the process of finding the artist you
will work with?
(NICOLETTE) The search for the face of the collection took about 3
months. Twitter was the #1 source in finding Netta Brielle. We were
following her Publicist and luckily I was online when she posted new
music from Netta Brielle. From there we contacted her team and the
rest is history!
(LAKEITHEA) You were originally doing custom dresses for women when
Nikera first got its start, what are the new items that the company
offers now?
(NICOLETTE) Yes, I started with custom dresses in 2009. The line is
more street worthy. Custom graphic tees and mini skirts. The dream was
to become more casual for the kids who just wanted to rock Nikera
Clothing with a pair of dope denim and sneakers. We will be
incorporating a few custom dresses for the SPRING/SUMMER 2011.
(LAKEITHEA) What's coming up for Nikera Clothing?
(NICOLETTE) SO MUCH!! Haha! Just trying to really work with more
unique Artists. We will begin scouting for the new faces of spring
2011 in a few months. Right now, mostly traveling, releasing free
apparel monthly to select fans, and sponsoring fashion events this
summer in various cities. The goal is to promote the label as much as
possible this summer. Giving our fans special offers, and continuing
to expose the young musicians to the world!
